The most famous teaching of Rebbe Nachman is that we should really be happy all the time – that it’s a great commandment and obligation.  

 

Rebbe Nachman gave us many tools and much advice on how to proceed towards happiness but when he revealed his special name, Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman, he took it to a different level. At that time he said that to really draw near to him – to feel real joy – we need to get involved and work hard to spread his teachings in the world – teachings that can really fix the world and fill it with light. It was up to Rav Yisroel Ber to understand Rebbe Nachman’s message to him, teach it to others, and show the way forward – all of which he did brilliantly.  

 

One of our friends, a torah scholar who studied Rebbe Nachman’s teachings for almost thirty years, said recently that he never felt the light of Rebbe Nachman and never knew the joy of being close to him until he got in his car and went out to spread Rebbe Nachman’s light.

 

Rebbe Nachman passed from this world in 1810.
